Acciona Energy is committed to working in partnership with the Waubra community to construct an internationally regarded Wind Farm.
The Waubra Wind Farm Project provides many opportunities for the local community through employment generation, relationship strengthening and increased tourism.
Acciona Energy keeps the regional community informed via the Waubra Website, the Waubra Newsletter and the Community Reference Group.
As part of the Community Relations program, Acciona Energy set up a Community Reference Group (CRG) as a focal point for communication with the community during the construction period of the Waubra Wind Farm. Expressions of Interest were received and the CRG has been established as a forum to meet regularly with the Acciona Energy construction team. “We were very pleased to see community members expressing interest in forming a CRG to relay any issues and receive information updates about work happening at the wind farm site”, Community Relations Coordinator, Ms Sandra Mack said.
“The purpose of the CRG is to enable members to raise issues at meetings and share information with people in the community. CRG members are also encouraged to relay comments and ideas from the community back to the project team” Ms Mack said.
The group is made up of people with a range of interests, including land owners neighbouring the site and members of community organisations.
The CRG has had five meetings to date. more

As part of its community consultation program, Acciona Energy held a Community Information Day for the wider Waubra community on Saturday 4 August at the Waubra Recreation Reserve. Community members were invited to drop in to get the latest information on civil construction works, the detailed design of the wind farm and the community relations program.
Approximately 90 local people came along to receive information and to meet Acciona Energy staff.
Overall community members were supportive of the final design of the Waubra Wind Farm. Most locals were particularly interested in the maintenance facility, employment at the wind farm, sponsorship opportunities and the electrical design.
People were impressed by the sustainability features of the maintenance building and its artistic design. People were particularly positive about the final electrical design with all cables between turbines going underground and the proposed landscaping around substations. Initial concerns of a few community members about the aviation safety lights were allayed by giving further information on the lighting plan, the type of lights selected and the visibility of the lighting at night. The local community was very pleased about getting an update on activities around the Waubra Wind Farm and about receiving information on the detailed design.
